“Moje največje veselje je glasba. Pojem to, kar mislim in čutim. S tem želim izkoristiti moč pesmi in deliti energijo, ljubezen.”
Leta 2012 so ji glasbeni kolegi Marko Črnčec, Martin Bezjak, Vid Žgajner in drugi pomagali posneti debitantski album Veš, kaj mislim?
Preberite več o STRANGE JAZZ UNIVERSE, TANG GANG & KORDUROY
STRANGE JAZZ UNIVERSE
Drummer Ron Bruner Sr. is of the most noted drummers and musicians on the LA jazz scene, having started Strange Jazz Universe 17 years ago. Ron has played for Diana Ross, Howard Hewitt, Gary Bartz, Nancy Wilson, and Randy Crawford. His latest CD, 'New Space Age Materials' on the LA Sound Label, features an eclectic group of musicians which is reason alone to buy this CD. New Space Age Materials is not easy to put down. Bassist Stanley Clarke and his Alembic joins Ron on several tracks, along with bass prodigy Thundercat, Del Atkins on acoustic bass, and prominent LA bassist Fidel Winzey. Although it sounds like a bass-centric album, this is not the case. Bruner deftly defies the bass and drums syndrome by calling upon sax sensation Kamasai Washington (Wayne Shorter, Herbie Hancock, George Duke, Chaka Khan) Edmund Velasco, Phil Charles, John Z., Rick Z., and JInshi Ozaki on guitar, Jameel Bruner on keys, and Nord Keyboard Recording Artist Brandon Coleman (Babyface, Alicia Keys, Kenny Garret, Christian McBride, Roy Hargrove, Marcus Miller, Ledisi, Brain Mcknight, and Stevie Wonder) and WCGD star pianist Cameron Graves, to keep the rhythm section in check and moving to the intricate rhythms and sounds Bruner has composed. Ron leads us on a tour of the Strange Jazz Universe in 2013 with straight-ahead jazz, funk -induced work with Clarke, and inspiring vocals Ariana Charlene, and fusion-based experiments and programming work by Jamel Bruner. Katja joined the band in 2017.
First band that Katja is singing with since she moved in LA. Tang Gang is ''A funk/soul collective layin' it down for your aural pleasures!'' You can join us every second Thursday of the month at our residency at Basement Tavern in Santa Monica.
In the Spring of 2013 (Katja joined them in 2015), a group of friends and colleagues came together to share their love of music. What started as jam sessions in each other’s homes turned into a collaborative effort now known as Korduroy.
Korduroy is a progressive-soul act but refuses to fit into that simply titled box. With 15 rotating members, which includes two trumpeters, two guitarists and two percussionists, it’s easy to see how they defy one single genre and produce their own “groove music.”
Isaac Lopez, founding member, alto saxophone player and lead vocalist, had a vision to harness not only his own talents and influences, but to truly create a melting pot of sounds with his gifted ensemble.
Each member of Korduroy shares a love of music from Latin to Jazz, from Pop to Punk, to Rock and Hip-Hop. And with so many chefs in the kitchen it would be impossible to strictly stay on one path. Once you hear it, you’ll get it.
